Aloha, my name is Penny Kaae. In 2017, my wife, Kahikina, and I founded Kaae Farm, a flower farm in Waimea, Hawai'i Island, dedicated to providing the finest, sustainable, locally grown flowers.
I am a fifth-generation lei seller, continuing the legacy of my great-grandmother, Sophia, who opened our family's first lei stand in the 1920s. Our family has transitioned over the years starting at Mauna Kea Street to the Honolulu International Airport, forming the first all-Hawaiian, all-wahine Lei Sellers Association. My grandmother, Charlotte, established the Pua Melia Lei Stand alongside her mother, which my Aunty Ku‘ulei manages to this day. In time, I will take over the family lei stand, continuing this legacy. With the decrease of flower farmers and significant imports of flowers into Hawai'i, we knew the only way to sustain our family business and provide an option for locally grown flowers was to start our own farm. We are a regenerative farm committed to aloha ‘āina and supporting our flower community. Mahalo for your support, Penny & Kahikina |
